The Rooftop Solar Panel Market 2026: Industry | Residential. How far has Harare actually gone solar? Injecta Analytics mapped 1,703 industrial buildings across Workington and Southerton and found that only 97 have rooftop solar, about 1 in 18. Just 4.1% of 2.48 million m² of roof space is under panels, leaving 2.4 million m² unused. If even half of that roof is usable, it could host about 200 MW, or 130 systems the size of Tobacco Processors Zimbabwe’s 1.5 MW installation. At home the picture changes: around 60,000 Harare homes have rooftop solar, a 19% adoption rate against 4% in Mutare, and as high as 86% in Arlington Estate. We show how rooftop solar works as a proxy for affluence and economic activity. Presented at the CZI Strategic Intelligence Forum 2026, download the report below
